Section Name Change & Project Magellan

Introducing Section G10

As many of you are already aware, the national Order of the Arrow committee created the Project Magellan task force in order to assess the impact of the changes within the Boy Scouts of America (BSA)—namely the creation of National Service Territories to replace the existing area and region structures—on our Order’s National structure. The task force worked since December 2020 through surveys, interviews, and lengthy discussion with OA youth and adult leaders from around the country in order to put forward a new two region structure for the Order of the Arrow. Recently, the names of these two regions were announced and region chiefs were elected immediately after the elections of the 2022 National Chief and National Vice Chief. A complete update from Project Magellan and the new region structure is available here.

This new structure will only change our region and section name, but not the lodges who are members of our section. Section C-1B will begin moving to our new name of Section G10, which is part of the Gateway Region of the Order of the Arrow. Our five member lodges happily remain Blue Ox Lodge (Gamehaven Council), Kon Wapos Lodge (Bay-Lakes Council), Ni-Sanak-Tani Lodge (Gateway Area Council), Otyokwa Lodge (Chippewa Valley Council), and Tom Kita Chara Lodge (Samoset Council).

We have begun changing our social media handles, website, and communications to Section G10 and will hold the first Section G10 Conclave this fall, September 16-18, 2022 at Crystal Lake Scout Reservation. Our mission and purpose as a section will remain to support and aid our member lodges in any manner possible.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at the email listed below. We successfully kicked off 2022 as a Section at the Winter Council of Chiefs and we’re looking forward to a strong Spring CoC and ACT Conference in March and an even better Conclave in September.

Yours in Cheerful Service,

Section G10 Leadership
